Black Sheep replaces Warren G for Connecticut Yard Goats postgame concert
One ’90s hip-hop star is out, but a song-making duo is stepping in.
Hip-hop group Black Sheep will perform a postgame concert at Dunkin’ Park after the Hartford Yard Goats game on Friday, Sept. 4, according to a news release from the team.
Black Sheep, formed by rappers Dres and Mista Lawnge, is best known for 1990s songs including “The Choice Is Yours” and “Flavor of the Month.” The duo released its debut album, “A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” in 1991.
Rapper Warren G, known for his 1994 hit “Regulate” featuring Nate Dogg, was originally scheduled to perform after the game but canceled because of “unforeseen circumstances,” according to the news release.
The Yard Goats will face the Reading Fightin Phils, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, before the concert. The concert is included with admission to the game. Friday’s festivities will also include a postgame fireworks show and the first 1,000 fans at Dunkin’ Park will receive a bucket hat.
Postgame concerts have become a tradition at Dunkin’ Park, with past performers including Kurtis Blow, DJ Kool, Funk Flex, Digital Underground, Treach of Naughty by Nature and the Sugarhill Gang. Black Sheep last performed at the ballpark in 2018 alongside DJ Kool.
Tickets for the game begin at $18.50.
