Grant Scott: We showed character in win over Partick Thistle

It was a hard-fought victory for Celtic FC Women on Sunday afternoon, who maintained their unbeaten start to the SWPL season so far with a 3-2 win over Partick Thistle.

Ultimately, it was Lisa Robertson’s goal that would prove crucial, delivering the three points for the Hoops.

Speaking to CelticPlayer after the match, Grant Scott praised the character of his squad to fight through a frustrating performance to deliver the win.

He said: “It was a hard-fought win. I thought we played into Thistle’s hands a little bit, as much as I thought they were very, very good at putting the pressure on us.

“We invited that pressure at times and we lost our composure at times. I think as a group we can be very disappointed with the performance.

“But if you can perform that badly and come away with the three points, you’ve got to be happy with the outcome.

‘It shows a bit of character in there, a bit of strength, and a bit of determination to make things happen.’

“We had to make a lot of subs, there were a couple of niggles during the game and you’re asking players to come in and keep the work ethic that we’re looking for which we didn’t see exactly what we were after today.

“It says a lot about the characters in the group and winning’s an important habit. It’s a really good skill to have. especially when you’re not doing so well performance-wise.

“We’ll have to strangle that positivity from this one because there wasn’t much from the playing.”
