In late June, the Ottawa Senators traded captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in exchange for three first-round draft picks and one second-round pick.
Senators fans won’t have to wait long to see Tkachuk for the first time this season, as he and the Panthers will visit Canadian Tire Centre on Oct. 21. There will undoubtedly be a rowdy atmosphere among the fans in attendance.
It will be an opportunity for Senators fans to make their feelings known about Tkachuk’s trade request, while his former teammate Thomas Chabot has admitted that he wasn’t happy to see him leave, especially after the Senators had reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a second consecutive season.

“It’s not fun for us as hockey players; you know how good of a hockey player that Brady is,” Chabot said via Sportsnet on X. “Obviously, I was close with him as a friend and a teammate. You don’t like seeing that. Like we kind of said all summer, if you don’t want to be here and you want to be somewhere else, then we’d rather it happen that way. And obviously, I don’t hold anything against him. We talked on the phone this summer when everything kind of went down. I wished him the best of luck in his future for the rest of his career; he’s a hell of a guy and a hell of a teammate.But we take pride in what we have here in Ottawa as a team and as a group.”
“When you see something like that – I’d be lying to say I was happy when he decided to leave,” Chabot said via Sportsnet on X. “We felt like we’re on the verge of starting to make the playoffs and building something.”
Tkachuk and the Panthers will play Chabot and the Senators starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
