Cowboys could get big boost ahead of Week 7 game vs. Commanders

The Washington Commanders have a tough test ahead of them in Week 7, and it could get even tougher.

The Commanders, fresh off a disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, are set to head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys next. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss in their own right after falling to the Panthers in Charlotte in Week 6.

Divisional games are always tough, but this one may be even tougher as it appears the Cowboys may have elite wide receiver CeeDee Lamb back in the fold. Lamb hasn’t played since September 21 as he deals with high-ankle sprain. The receiver was expected to miss three or four weeks, and he’s already missed three, so his return could be imminent.

On Monday afternoon, co-owner Stephen Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan and said Lamb “has a chance” to play against the Commanders on Sunday. Jones also mentioned the possibility of fellow receiver KaVontae Turpin and offensive lineman Tyler Booker returning as well.

Lamb returning would give the Commanders plenty of reason to worry. In the two games that Lamb was healthy this season, the receiver eclipsed the 100-yard mark both times. So far in 2025, Lamb has 16 catches for 222 yards.

Additionally, the Commanders have been very mediocre against the pass this season. After Week 6, the team is 23rd in passing yards allowed per game and 15th in opponent passing touchdowns per game. Corner Mike Sainristil and safeties Quan Martin and Jeremy Reaves have also left much to be desired with their play so far.

The Commanders and Cowboys will kick off from AT&T Stadium on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. With a win, the Commanders would keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles and improve to 4-3 overall. With a loss, however, the Commanders would fall below .500 for the first time since Week 1 of the 2024 campaign.
