Colin Daniels’ 5 TD passes lift North Oldham over Valley; Trinity, CAL roll to wins

Colin Daniels passed for 257 yards and five touchdowns and Ronin Renton had a big game on the ground to lift the North Oldham High School football team to a 66-28 victory over visiting Valley on Friday.

The victory gave North Oldham (7-1) — ranked No. 7 in Class 4A — control of the race for the No. 1 playoff seed from Class 4A, District Three.

Valley dropped to 6-2.

Daniels completed 15 of 23 passes and now has a school-record 31 touchdown passes this season. Jackson Davis caught two of the scoring passes, and Andrew Davis, Luke Tompkins and Conner Nesmith each caught one.

Renton carried 18 times for a career-high 183 yards and four touchdowns for the Mustangs, who built a 59-20 halftime lead.

Trinity 35, Ballard 3

Zane Johnson passed for 176 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Shamrocks (6-2) — ranked No. 1 in Class 6A — over the host Bruins.

Johnson completed 9 of 17 passes and threw touchdowns to Cross Watson (two), Holden Schoen, Kaleb Warner and Jack Stivers.

Watson’s touchdowns went for 82 and 29 yards, the latter giving Trinity a 35-0 lead late in the second quarter and starting the mercy-rule running clock.

Scott County 49, South Oldham 21

Timmy Emongo racked up 278 yards of offense and four touchdowns to lead the Cardinals (7-1) — ranked No. 1 in Class 5A — over the host Dragons (5-3).

All three of Emongo’s receptions went for touchdowns: 67, 66 and 36 yards. He also rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Skyler Way carried five times for 161 yards and two touchdowns — a 90-yarder and a 66-yarder — as Scott County rolled up 306 yards on the ground. Charlie Ellison completed 5 of 6 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns.

South Oldham’s Anthony Dixon carried nine times for 79 yards and returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Adrian Miles passed for 73 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score.

Woodford County 42, Collins 24

Foxx Coons passed for 424 yards and four touchdowns to help the Yellow Jackets (6-1) — ranked No. 2 in Class 5A — rally from a 24-14 halftime deficit and beat the host Titans (5-3).

Coons completed 28 of 42 passes. His top targets were Omari Jointer (six catches, 114 yards, two TDs) and Kael Rihtar (five catches, 159 yards, one TD).

Collins quarterback Kade Goodin returned from an injury and completed 17 of 38 passes for 285 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Collins’ Avi Delaney caught seven passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Christian Academy 49, Central 7

Jackson Burke threw six touchdown passes — including two apiece to Ja’Hyde Brown and Stone Perkins — to lead the Centurions (8-0) over the host Yellowjackets (2-5).

Burke also threw touchdown passes to Micah Akin and Gaines Howard as CAL — ranked No. 1 in Class 3A — ran its state-best winning streak to 15.

Tyree Stoner’s 4-yard touchdown run gave CAL a 7-0 lead after its first possession.

CAL avenged a 48-28 loss at Central last season.

Bullitt East 28, Fern Creek 14

Cole Cornell and JayQuan Crawford rushed for touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lead the Chargers (4-3) over the visiting Tigers (3-4).

Cornell’s 7-yard touchdown run gave Bullitt East a 21-14 lead with 11:22 remaining, and Crawford’s 6-yard touchdown run made it 28-14 with 6:40 left.

Crawford carried 26 times for 177 yards, and Cornell added 73 yards on 14 carries. Bullitt East rolled up 295 yards on the ground.

Fern Creek quarterback Javis Wallace completed 10 of 20 passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns and also carried 16 times for 67 yards.

Oldham County 15, Eastern 7

Derek Dees threw touchdown passes to Dixon Mount and Brooks Kightlinger to lead the Colonels (5-2) — ranked No. 10 in Class 6A — over the host Eagles (1-6).

Dees’ 2-yard touchdown pass to Kightlinger gave Oldham County a 15-0 lead with two seconds left in the first half.

Eastern’s Jemari Hayden had a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Lexington Christian 53, Shawnee 14

Nash Whalen passed for 178 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Eagles (4-3) — ranked No. 4 in Class 2A — over the visiting Golden Eagles (3-4).

Tyler King had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns, and Bennett Gudalis rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown as Lexington Christian rolled up 394 yards of offense.

Shawnee got two touchdowns from its defense in the third quarter — a 32-yard fumble return from Kenneth Elliott and a 30-yard interception return from Kyresse McAtee.
