Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 5: QB Edition

Can you believe that it is already Week 5 in the NFL season? At least by now, teams have started to take on an identity, but with all the injuries affecting some of them, it is hard to establish one at the moment. Either way, whether you’re 4-0 or 0-4 in your fantasy league, there is still time to turn things around. Not in real life within the NFL, only in Fantasy Football. Teams that start 0-4 in the NFL are doomed 99% of the time. Here are a few Start/Sit QBs that will lead you to a win in your league, and a few that may keep you dwelling in the basement.

Start – C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

Yes, I know the Texans are 1-3 so far this season. But C.J. Stroud will have to break out at some point. Why not against an ailing Baltimore Ravens team, which is giving up the third most yards and touchdowns in the league to opposing QBs? The Texans have revamped their offensive line, and Stroud has only been sacked 10 times so far after being sacked nearly three times a game last year for a total of 52 on the year. He has yet to throw for 300 yards this season, but it will come.

Start – Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Some people were concerned last week for Herbert, but the New York Giants have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL; however, it doesn’t translate to wins. There is no reason to be concerned after a fluke loss. Herbert will bounce back against the Commanders in Week 5.

Start – Justin Fields, New York Jets

I completely understand why some did not start Fields this week against the Dolphins after coming off a concussion and missing Week 3. Fields played very well on Monday Night Football, and when the Jets play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, look for Fields to have an even bigger game due to the fact that Dallas surrenders a ton of yards both passing and rushing to opposing QBs.

Sit – Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Seattle is a long trip from Tampa Bay, even by plane. Plus, the Seahawks’ defense is pretty good, and it would be too big a risk this week to start Mayfield. Seattle is also top-five in sacks and top-ten in takeaways, so there’s that.

Sit – Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

When discussing the Rams, do you know how hard it is for me not to refer to them as the St. Louis Rams? Anyways, it doesn’t matter whether Brock Purdy is healthy or not; he doesn’t play defense, but the 49ers have some pretty talented ones that do, and that’s why the defense is averaging the most points against opposing teams this season, and has allowed less than 173 yards a game and five total passing touchdowns all year thus far.

Sit – Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback, obviously, but the low output he is capable of, despite still securing wins, will eventually bite the Hurts faithful who have him starting each week. He has only 609 passing yards this season and has 5 touchdowns, which puts him in the middle of the pack for quarterbacks. I do not expect Hurts to have a rushing touchdown in this game, which is also his main bread and butter with fantasy scoring.
