Doctors’ union warns GPs will be diverted in ‘triage tsunami’, giving ministers 48 hours to implement safeguards

GPs in England are threatening to take action over government plans to increase patients’ online access to appointments which they claim will lead to a “tsunami” of extra demand.

Ministers have been given 48 hours to put in place measures to stop GPs being overwhelmed when the new system – intended to help patients beat “the 8am scramble” – starts this Wednesday.
