Brock Bowers reportedly out for weeks after surgery

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers is the top tight end in fantasy football. Unfortunately for fantasy football owners, it sounds like he’s going to begin the season on the bench.

According to a report, Bowers underwent a medical procedure on Wednesday and is expected to miss some time as he recovers.

Bowers to Miss Time

According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bowers is expected to miss multiple

“Raiders All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trim Tuesday in Dallas with Dr. Daniel Cooper and now is expected to miss ‘a game or two’, league sources told [Ian Rapoport] and me. Bowers got banged up ‘a little in camp’ and the injury was diagnosed last week and surgery scheduled,” Schefter wrote in a post on X.

Obviously, this is a significant blow for the Raiders as Bowers is perhaps the top receiving tight end in the NFL. With Bowers out, Schefter reports that tight end Michael Mayer is in line for

“Raiders TE Michael Mayer already was going to be a part of the team’s attack – and his role now is expected to grow without Brock Bowers,” Schefter wrote.

‘Less Than Ideal’

Needless to say, this news led to a lot of reactions around the league.

“This is the worst news I’ve seen on twitter since there was a >10% chance of human extinction by 2030,” wrote Jakob Sanderson of The Athletic.

“Well that is less than ideal…” wrote NFL insider Field Yates of ESPN.

“If you ‘trim’ my meniscus I’m not getting out of bed for two months,” wrote sports commentator Brandon Perna.

“What a way to start the NFL season. The projected fantasy football TE1 just underwent SURGERY. My god. So many people drafted this man in the 2nd round. Now a surprise injury/procedure. It’s a cruel world,” wrote PPR Fantasy Tips.

We’ll have to see how long Bowers stays sidelined.
