Raiders lose TE Brock Bowers for ‘a game or two’ after meniscus trim

The Las Vegas Raiders will be without their top pass catcher, tight end Brock Bowers, for the next week or two after having a meniscus trim on Tuesday. The injury was just diagnosed last week.

This is a major blow to the Raiders, who heavily rely on their tight end. Despite missing five games last season due to a bone bruise and PCL injury, Bowers still led the Raiders in yards per game and was second on the team in receiving yards.  He also had the most receiving touchdowns of anyone on the Raiders last season, with seven scores.

As a rookie in 2024, he played in all 17 games. He recorded over 1,000 receiving yards with an average of over 70 yards per game and had five touchdowns. Bowers was named to the Pro Bowl and was an All-Pro that year, and the Raiders were looking for him to have that kind of production this season.

If Bowers ends up missing only the first two games, the Raiders will be without him in their season opener against the Miami Dolphins and their first division matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, a typical meniscus trim takes four to six weeks to recover from.

While Las Vegas remains optimistic, it will not be long before Bowers could miss not only games against the Dolphins and Chargers, but also against the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills. Bowers missing that much time could decimate the Raiders’ season, as they do not have a player who can replace his production.
